Honeycomb is like a big storage cupboard for the hive. Bees stock it full of honey, so they never go hungry during the winter months.
Clearly at Rowse we’re crazy about providing the UK with the most perfect honey possible – but without the bees where would we be!
Honey and beeswax are found in many skin creams, lipsticks and hand lotions.
It's Green Office Week - so here's some tips to help you go a little greener.
As many of you careful bee watchers may have noticed - it's swarm season! It's nothing to be alarmed about, let us explain a little...
If you store honey at very low temperatures, it 'frosts'. Frosting is harmless and happens when the natural crystals begin to bond together to form a lattice network. To soften the honey, warm it gently in an airing cupboard for a day or so.
As the days get longer and (slightly) warmer, it’s a great time to get outside and start pottering around in the garden. Bees agree too – as things heat up, honey bees will leave their winter-cluster (they don’t hibernate, but all snuggle up in a big ball and shiver to keep each other warm, surviving on stockpiled honey) and begin buzzing around in the outside world again.
Here at Rowse, we think it's important to do our bit for the environment so we can help make the world a better place to be. Follow me to see what we've been up to.
