Bees talk to each other by doing a little dance. They do a figure-of-eight movement at the door of the hive known as the ‘Waggle Dance’, which directs other bees to a good source of nectar.
Clearly at Rowse we’re crazy about providing the UK with the most perfect honey possible – but without the bees where would we be!
A small colony of bees needs 35 pounds of honey to survive the winter.

As many of you careful bee watchers may have noticed - it's swarm season! It's nothing to be alarmed about, let us explain a little...
Each bee colony has a unique smell. Bees flash their smell like identification cards at the hive’s front door. If they don’t smell right, the guard bees won’t let them in.
As the days get longer and (slightly) warmer, it’s a great time to get outside and start pottering around in the garden. Bees agree too – as things heat up, honey bees will leave their winter-cluster (they don’t hibernate, but all snuggle up in a big ball and shiver to keep each other warm, surviving on stockpiled honey) and begin buzzing around in the outside world again.
